Lili Hair beauty store

Hey guys. How are you all doing.
It's been too long I know.
I actually gave up on blogging cos I was getting discouraged with some stuff and to be honest you need a lot of encouragement to keep blogging. Lol. Things are not always going to go the way you envision. My mom and siblings however are my number one fans. Lol. They didn't let me rest and they kept encouraging me. So thanks to them, here I am.
Anyhoo! I am back now and I plan to be consistent by God's grace.
About a year ago I travelled to the ancient city of China for a short vacation. I am a hair freak so while I was there I literally went to their hair mall and was gushing over the beauty that is human hair. Chai!. I was salivating and wishing that I could have 'em all. Lool. But nna that is some money so I could only buy one hair style.
Like we know, China is famous for their copies of products and things in general and I have always wanted "funmi hair" but a sister can't afford funmi hair yet. So while I was there I used to opportunity to request for funmi hair and to my surprise they had it. Lool. I sharps bought it. A bundle of 8" and 10" which cost me about 720RMB if I am not mistaken. I also took her business card too.
720RMB at the time was roughly about 20,000 naira which was a bargain. Because the exact same lengths in the real funmi hair would have cost me about 80,000 naira.
When I got back home to Nigeria and installed the bundles everyone couldn't stop gushing about how beautiful the hair was. The 2 bundles I bought were full enough for my head and to my surprise the hair did not tangle at all. The curls were maintained and it had minimal to no shedding which I personally found amazeballs.
I have installed the hair twice now and I had it in for about 5 weeks each time. And I must say that this hair is hands down one of the best I own. Like I said before there was no tangling and little to no shedding.
1st use.

Second use

I recently felt the need to acquire more hair so of couse I  messaged Lili and she informed me about her store on aliexpress and that she was having a sale so I decided to wait for the sale before I purchased the bundle deal I  wanted.
I ended up buying one 16', one 18' and one 20" with a 14" silk Base closure and so I paid a total of about $200 + shipping to Nigeria. Amazing right?

The package arrived via FedEx and I must say that I absolutely love this hair. It's so soft and bouncy and ut took just about a week to get to me in Nigeria.
The store

They will be having a black friday sales tomorrow so you guys should definitely check them out.... mouth watering deals await you. *wink*  Tell them Dr Honey sent you. Must NOTS for those inlaw visits.

Hey hey hey( in Edee beau's voice) how are you all doing.  So today's post is basically gonna be about those trends that we should not be caught in while going to visit the inlaws.
I can guess that most of my readers are females and are either married or aspiring to which is why this post focuses on women.  For my male readers please direct your women in here so they can pick up a thing or two.
Now down to business;
  1.  First of all, I know that most ladies like makeup and like to feel pretty but the truth is: Honey, you don't want to give a wrong impression to your would be inlaws. Keep it simple. Leave the highlighting and contouring for another day. Lol
  2. Ripped jeans are a "no no". I know we all think they are cool and stylish but my sisters, the older people are yet to understand why a sane person would wear torn clothes.
  3. Don't over dress! In a bid to impress them with your fashionsta skills you leave them wondering weather you are here to be a wife and mother or a runway model.
  4. Cover up darlings. I know that most clothes in the market these days expose either cleavage, side boobs or butt crack but just for the purpose of your visit, do us all a favour and tuck them away.
  5. These days we see different colours of wigs and weaves, both two toned and single colour; pink, yellow, orange, green name it. Do not wear them to visit the inlaws darling. Nah!

I know for a fact that if my son brought a woman who has disregarded all of the above points and introduced her to me as his wife to be that'll be the end of it. #lol.
Well, that's it for this post guys. If you have any more points you think you'd like to share please leave them in the comment section down below. Gracias mi amor.
Until next time my loves XOXO.

Healthier lifestyle changes- home made plantain amala.

So one of my lovely readers sent me this receipe. If you are trying to eat healthier or if you are just a DIY kinda person then this is definitely for you. I think all the pictures are pretty self explanatory, but i'll run through them just because.
The key ingredient for plantain amala like we all know is unripe plantain. So, if you happen to have a plantain tree in your house and it's killing you waiting for all them plantain fingers to ripen up then I'm sure you'd be happy about this discovery.
Okay!
1) So 1st of all, you'll peel the skin off the plantain and dice it into small bits.
2) you put the diced plantain into your blender and add a little water just so it's easier to blend it to a fine paste

3) after blending, you should have something like this.
4) pour the paste into a pot on fire, wait for it to boil for a bit and stir continuously .... Just the way you'd normally stir your amala
6) tada!!!!! Your plantain amala is cooked and ready to eat.
7) serve with any soup of your choice. She chose efo riro.
So that's it for this post. If you have any recepies you'd like to share with the world then feel free to email me oyinkanfafo@icloud.com. Until next time my loves.
Xoxo.

Life lately || the little things.

Just because the little things add up to the big things and in the end, we should truly be grateful for those little things.

It's a cold morning...I am tucked in under my duvet and realising that I have been away for too long. The plan is actually to write at least once every week... could be more, but at least once. This post has been in my draft for at about a week but i've been stalling because I asked bae to help me design the giveaway picture but he has been busy + corel draw decided it didn't wanna work again and I didn't wanna write a post without the giveaway somewhere in between but I have missed you guys so.

Some beautiful little things.
  • Cold rainy nights
  • Breakfast in bed
  • Getting lost in a book
  • Cheating with a chocolate bar after your failed attempts at dieting
  • Watching the waves on the beach with someone special
  • Kind words from a stranger especially on those hard days
  • A smile from your crush
  • Getting a message from a total stranger saying how much of an inspiration you have been to them.
  • Meeting someone new and connecting with the person instantly
  • When bae cooks
  • Seemingly unending phone calls with that special someone
  • Cuddled up in bed and watching your favourite series
  • Getting home, taking off your clothes and getting into bed after a long day.
  • Having a day out with friends
  • Thoughtful gifts
  • A bowl of eba and egusi soup on a hot Saturday afternoon
  • Fighting for the remote control with your siblings
  • Surprise visits from someone dear.
Remember to appreciate the little things and to find joy in them because in the end, the perfect picture isn't complete without those little things.
What are some of your little things?
Until next time my lovelies. XOXO

An Elegy to my Lady.

My classmate Adjidahun Olusina Micheal wrote this piece a few days ago. He was to present it at one of his meetings with the Quills so he showed me and a few other people to ask what we thought about it. After I read it, I fell in love with the piece and so I asked him if he'd like me to feature it on the blog and he sent me a copy.

Cancer is a disease that has affected each and every one of us one way or the other. We either know someone who is battling the intruder, someone who won the battle or someone who lost the fight. Even if we don't know them personally, we know someone who does and at the very least we can relate from the movies we watch. I hope u appreciate this piece just as much as I did.
**********************************************************
I WROTE THIS PIECE TO BE SUNG FOR MY IMAGINARY FRIEND WHO DIED OF CANCER,I TRIED TO RECOUNT ALL THE SWEET WORDS AND PERHARPS THE BYE I NEVER GOT TO SAY.

VERSE1
I counted myself lucky,
But she believed i wasn't a shorty,
Had better smiles than her mom who was forty,
I jokingly called her mummy,
I was always ready to be her dummy,
'Cause she was the ‘bestest’ thing I called her chummy.
'Twas just one day she told me she had a lump,
Warned her to examine, but she didn't care 'cause she was a fan of Gucci pumps,
That little lump, then one day made her slump,
She couldn't open her mouth thought she had mumps,
She couldn't put up that smile, broken like a stump,
Tears rolled down her cheeks, all gone the good and pomp,
Saw my lovely daisy fading away like pastries,
That lump was a cancer I wish I had the answer
It wasn't within my power
To tell her the lump could take her down the sewer,
On her death bed, She was wasted like the Joker

VERSE 2
I remembered she saying we are the best of friends,
'Cause she was the most beautiful, She kept rocking trends,
My own silly ways yea she did amend,
Even though i was naughty, My ways she did bend,
Made be a better person even when i thought of arson,
She was my Richard Branson,
Always said keep being a virgin,
Can remember those fingers as she taught me piano lessons,
Then she put up a jersey 'cause she loved Lionel Messi,
She was my genie in a bottle aint saying Henessy,
She gave me advice and kept asking what's the next thing,
Her crescent awesome smiles always made me thirsty,
Every morning I hoped her face would be the first thing,
Now I could not say the byes,
Because time's a thief with wings so it flies,
I hope she's happily resting in my maker's arms,
Also thrilling the angels with her billion dollar smiles,
You'll forever be my one and only that's a phenomenon.

Flash Tattoos

Flash tattoos are the in thing this summer. Its amazing how queen Bey single handedly made them a thing. I love tattoos but the only reason I am not getting them is because I cant make up my mind. This minute I like this one, the next i like another and man can't keep drawing things on herself  ya know.
If you are like me and you can't make up your mind about getting tattoos then trust me, this is for you. Flash tattoos are jewellery inspired designs that can make an unexpected statement on any part of your body. These unique pieces naturally last up to 6 days but can be scrubbed off before then if the need arises.

I just recently ordered some and they came in the mail yesterday. I can't wait to show you guys how to rock this statement pieces and a pictorial on how to apply them. And guess what guys. We will be having our giveaway soon!!!!!! I know I said we'd have one when we get to 10,000 views but I was too excited I couldn't wait. Details of how to enter the giveaway would be up on the blog by the next post. I hope you guys are just as excited about the giveaway as I am.

The house of Dabira

*Now singing house help songs and dusting the shelves*
Phew! It has been a bit on here. I can't see past all the cobwebs and dust. Lool. Sigh! I can't even begin to tell you guys what has been up in my life these past two weeks. Well for starters; I ran for congress woman University of Ibadan medical students association ( second term) but I wasn't elected as part of the congress body this year #sadly. Also, I had two continuous assessment tests in Anaesthesia and Orthorhinolaryngology; they went very well thanks for asking. And then I had a photo shoot too- I am actively trying to build up my portfolio. So really I have been very occupied with every other thing and that's why I went AWOL. Forgive me.
This blog post is featuring an indigenous artist and designer; The House of Dabira. She is also a fan of this blog ( Lool! I just had to throw that in somewhere).  Folu ( CEO house of Dabira) is an Alumni of the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan so she is our very own. She just recently started a range of bridal dresses and she had a campaign shoot for some of the dresses. I asked her if she wanted to feature it on the blog and she was more than happy to send me a post. Enjoy!

*****************************************************************************************************************************
The House of Dabira Bridals has been a long time coming. I guess I allowed self-doubt and fear of failure hold me back on so many occasions. In an aura of “What’s-the-worst-that-could-happen”, I reached out to the photographer, Ope Okunbor and after a while of deliberations, we set a date (which changed several times, thanks to many factors, to the point where I began to ask myself if that wasn’t a sign to smartly cancel the shoot.)
On the morning of the shoot, I ran to the fabric market to buy few important items needed for the shoot. I was so nervous, this was because despite having an idea of the looks I intended to create on the model, I was worried I might have been too deep in Fantasia and it might not come out as grand as it was in my head. Thankfully, the finished products BLEW my mind!! Completely.
Before I finish up, I’ll tell you about each one of the looks.
The first look has its roots in the charming times of the Victorian era. This exquisite gown, also known as “Theodora”. It is softly evocative, gentle to the eyes but still exuding strength. Its tulle bodice charms you as it wistfully extends into a carefully structured ball skirt. This is for the shy bride that wants to make a statement without being extravagant.

The second look named “Eleanor” evokes regal straightforward feminine image, combining the perfect dose of substance and style. This gown is mellifluous, sweet and musical. The smoothness of the fabric mixed with its straight silhouette flowing into a flawless train takes away your breath. This is for the “sensible” bride who wants to dispense with all frivolities yet remain exquisite.

“Elizabeth”, the third look is a personal favorite of many people. With the classic ball gown comes the classic name, “Elizabeth”. Opulence. Luxury.Extravagance. These are the words the gown evokes, The “Elizabeth” gown has so much going for it, rich history (a lot of brides stick to the ol’ ball gown silhouette for their big day), broad appeal and timeless style. No matter the number of brides that choose the gown, you can still own it!

I was very lucky to have a great team working with me and I have to recognize them for making a dream come alive:

I personally am in love with the Elizabeth wedding gown. It ministers to my soul! Lool. If you or anyone you know is getting married soon be sure to hit Folu up....I hear she has a discount for you. Also you can check out her blog for more pictures of her wedding gown series and the famous dress she designed for Nigerian actress Dakore Akande that won her the best dressed at the AMVCA awards.
Until next time my lovelies. XoXo.

Glitter and Sparkles.

Hey beautiful people. It has been a minute no? I have officially recovered from my birthday hangover so I'm back. 21 definitely looks good on me.
There has been an ongoing ARD (association of resident doctors) strike for the past month so things have been a little slow in the hospital. Mr Kevin of awesome photos contacted me on Wednesday to ask if I could make his model up for a photo shoot and since there isn't much going on in school I decided to go for it and so we picked Friday for the shoot.
I recently just got some glitters and I was eager to play with them. A lot of people are scared to rock glitter just because they feel like it's too loud and they can't pull it off but sincerely speaking almost everybody can! Glitter literally adds the extra sparkle to your eyes and you'd be surprised how much more glamorous you'd look just by adding glitters.
Mr Kevin took a before picture of our beautiful model but for some reason the picture is nowhere to be found but nevertheless enjoy!
Yaass glitter!!!!

Since she was going to change outfits, I decided to switch up the lips and we went for the classic bold eye and nude lips look.
She looks mind blowingly beautiful.

Notice her white eyeliner.
Which look do you prefer? The orange lips or the nude lips?
Nene was a natural at the shoot. She was just striking poses like no man's business #Osheyy modella. She actually wants to be a model and all of that but Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan is cramping up her style.

I really enjoyed every bit of the photo session and I hope you like these pictures just as much as I do.

21 and FAB!!!

My 21st birthday was on Wednesday the 3rd of June. I was pretty excited about turning 21 just because of the fuss everybody makes about the big 2 1. Nothing happened on that day though because as always medical school has got to cramp my style but on Saturday the 6th of June I had a dinner party at Jazz by chrysalis.
Now I'm thinking; should I tell you guys how I almost didn't celebrate my birthday or nah?
Heh! What the heck. Lool! I had been planning my birthday since January tbh. People thought I was crazy. Lool! I had different ideas for the birthday celebration; pool party, karaoke party, club party, the list is endless. After everything, I decided to settle for a dinner party. I wrote down my guest list and sent a bill to my parents and they were like "don't worry sweetheart, it's still far". The months started turning into weeks and the weeks into days and before I knew it, May was upon us. I was starting to develop cold feet and I was just like "abeg I am not celebrating this birthday again joor" and after a while it was "ok I'll have a small room party" and that was what it was supposed to be until one day I finally decided to stick with my dinner party.
After I had established the fact that I wanted a dinner party, it was time to go venue hunting. I wanted a place that wasnt too expensive at the same time classy and cosy. You guys already know me, when I say classy and cosy its cafe chrysalis that readily comes to my mind. I called them at cafe chrysalis to book the venue for the said date and find out the logistics and then they said to me " we are sorry ma but we don't allow guests bring in their birthday cakes because we have bakery services so we'd rather have you use ours"
Wow! That was a bubble buster. I definitely did not see that coming. I was just there thinking "where will I now use". I told my friends about it and they gave me various suggestions but none of them quite fitted into my idea of cosy and classy.
Fast forward to about a week to my birthday, the boo and I were driving one day and he suggested I check out the ring road branch of cafe chrysalis. This one is called Jazz by chrysalis. So we went there and I told them about my intention to use that venue for my party and asked them what could be done for me. They also told me of their no cake allowed policy but then they said that they'd allow me bring in the cake just for pictures. I was ecstatic. I called them almost everyday to remind them and be sure they hadn't changed their mind.

 my beautiful cake.
It was a relatively small dinner party, I invited my close friends and we had so much fun. Inioluwa was the anchor for the party. She and I already put our heads together the night before to think of activities to do at the party to keep every one involved and to make the dinner lively because we definitely didn't want people on their phones and being all uptight.
We had various games. One of them was that I'd ask you a question about me and if you get it wrong you earn yourself a shot. Lool! Everybody ended up with a shot or two.
Justice being served.

Lool.

Sammie

food!!!!!

We also played a game of "who am I". Here, a sticky note bearing a celebritys name is placed in your forehead and you are supposed to ask your friends yes or no questions so that you are able to guess who the celebrity is.
Obinna
Inioluwa anchoring the game.

We were divided into two groups by the anchor and a word was said. We were then supposed to write down as many songs as we knew that had that word in them. The team with the most songs wins.

The dinner was so much fun it was all laughs and no dull moment.

After we had all eaten, it was time to take pictures with the cake.

Anjola started to feel ill towards the end of the party so she wasn't in the group picture.

Selfie with my beautiful cake

So this pretty much sums up my birthday dinner. I had so much fun and I am grateful to God for life. I also wanna say thank you to my parents, my uncle and Aunty Moyo Aina, my grandma, the boo and my cousin Emmanuel for making this possible.
But before we leave, what is a party without an "usie"
