The purr and something blue.

Last week, I was on instagram and youtube feeding my eyes and gushing over the beauty that is makeup. Y'all have to agree with me when some people do makeup it legit looks like plastic surgery. No jokes!
Anyhoo, I was feeling inspired by everything that was going on and so I decided to play with my brushes and I asked my friend Shola of Avril photography to shoot the looks. Shola is a 600la medical student(I am sure some of y'all remember my other photographer buddy Doyin of miel photography the 600lb medical student) and she is an excellent photographer ( you guys wud be shocked that us medical students are not the stereotyped geeks u thought we were).
Moving on... I have this house of Tara eyeshadow trio called Osenken. Its a combination of blue, teal and purple and it is absolutely beautiful. I got it a while ago and I just hadn't gotten around to using it before. I took it from my makeup purse and stared hard at it  and Tada! I was inspired.
Osenken!
I called on my friend Uche and she came to be sprinkled with some of the honeytouch makeovers glam dust. #lol.
Before.

After all said and done, this was the after look.
All blue everything.

A little part of my brain wanted to do makeup that is a somewhat out of the norm... ya know! not your regular beauty shot. And so I went with the cheetah. Joanne was kind enough to be my model.

Purr!!!!

What do you guys think? You like? Not everytime normal makeup sometimes something different 😉. Oh! And before we leave... someone is turning a year older on Wednesday. Its my 21st baby!!! I am very open for gifts and what not people. #lool.

The puppet.

Hey guys! How are you doing? Its been a min hasn't it? I am so sorry I haven't been on here in a while. Last week was crazy busy for me; I had my dentistry end of posting continuous assessment and I also had a fully booked weekend for makeovers (i'll share some pictures with you when I get good professional pictures).
Moving on, somebody on my BBM used this picture as her display picture the other day and wrote; "the woman is equal to the puppet, the struggle for perfection is real" as her pm. I took a minute to digest the message, then went ahead to study the picture and I realised how deep the message was. So, I saved the picture and waited for the right moment when I was inspired to write about it.
The struggle for perfection is indeed real. Who society paints as the perfect/ideal woman is someone with the perfect figure; the smallest waist, the biggest hips/butt and the perkiest boobs, someone with straight hair because somehow, having kinky hair is imperfect and dirty, someone with the fairest skin because being dark skinned is not pretty....the list is endless.
Who comes up with these ideas of perfection anyways? The funny thing is how "perfection" keeps evolving. Some years ago being fat was considered perfect, and then it moved on to being skinny(Lepa shandy) and now it's thick(what does that even mean). I have realized that you can never truly be perfect. Perfection is the AKNOWLEDGEMENT of who you are, what you are and how you look like. If you have a small  butt embrace it; let it be perfection to you. If you are fat rock it. Be proud of how God made you. If you think of yourself as triangular shaped let traingular shaped be the definition of sexy to you. Because if you decide to keep up with societys definition of perfect you will never truly be happy and content and then body dismorphic disorders, eating disorders and depression would be born. However, in accepting yourself do not bring down other people or make anybody feel anything less than what they are. Everybody has inner demons they are fighting with and it sure would go a long way if they weren't being brought down for how they looked.

I see pictures like this and wonder if talking badly about someone else's body makes you feel better about yourself
This on the other hand helps you embrace yourself and build your confidence.
Well, that's it for this post guys. I hope you have found a word or two encouraging if you are going through the puppet phase. We are all sexy just the way we are and if you feel like you want to change something about the way you look it should be because you want to not because of what society wants. Please share your views, opinions and contributions in the comment section. Take care now. Ciao.

Cafe Chrysalis

Hey guys. Welcome back to the blog.
So in Medical school you have to pick a mentor, someone to guide you through medical school basically. My friends (Ini, Laolu and Lape) and I picked the same mentor Dr Kehinde Kuti. She is a family medicine consultant, HIV specialist and she also deals with preventive child medicine(something like a well child programme). She is Lape's aunt as well. Anyways, yesterday, we had one of our meetings and she took us out for dinner at cafe chrysalis so I decided to share my experience with you...kinda like a review if you will.

Cafe Chrysalis.
Cafe Chrysalis is a nice, cosy restaurant located in Bodija, Ibadan. I have been to cafe chrysalis about twice and ordered take out once before now so I am not exactly new to the place. What I find amazing about cafe chrysalis is that there is no sign board whatsoever to direct you or even indicate it's presence, and it's in the midst of residential buildings so you can very easily miss it if you don't know where exactly it is. I guess the reason they had it this way is for privacy and exclusivity, and that is something they have going on for them.

Pretty accurate innit?

I'll share some pictures with you just so if you need to go out to somewhere fancy and pocket friendly, you can have this in mind.

Interior.
Look at how beautiful and cosy it looks. Like I said there is no signboard to indicate its presence so there could be only a few people there at a time.
Look at all this art!
This one tickled my fancy.
Let's get down to the meal shall we?
When you first arrive and order your meal, you get a slice of toasted bread cut into two halves with butter served in a little cute basket ( I forgot to take a picture of that). For our appetizer, We had STUFFED CREPES. It is described as light pancakes filled with delicious sausages, cheese and smoked chicken.

Stuffed crepes. It costs 750
After that, Laolu and I had BISTRO PRAWN AND CHICKEN PASTA as our main meal. Its an Asian dish and it tasted pretty delicious. It was described as chicken strips stir fried with mushrooms, bell peppers, carrots and spaghetti, served with battered prawn in tomatoe sauce
Bistro prawn and chicken pasta(2000 naira)

Lape had CHICKEN CURRY and it was described as chunks of chicken in Indian curry sauce with potatoes, peppers and boiled eggs served with basmati rice.
Chicken curry(1500 naira)
Ini had SPICY BEEF STIR FRY. It was described as sliced beef sauce with onions, carrots, peppers and spicy herbs served with basmati rice.
Spicy beef stir fry(1500 naira)
We had regular drinks. I had fanta, Laolu had schwepps, Ini had coke and Lape had sprite. Our mentor didn't eat at the dinner. She just had a drink- PINA COLADA. Its a blend of cream coconut, pineapple juice, banana served with ice.
Non alcoholic Pina Colada(1000)

While we were having our dinner Obinna and his girlfriend came in and so I took a picture of them too.

Cute couple No?
So yeah. That pretty much sums up our dinner date. But before we leave lemme drop an "usie". Lool
L-R; Laolu, me, Ini, Lape and Dr Kuti.
Thank you so much for sticking around till the end of this post. Take care now. Ciao. Oh! and before I forget; their address is; number 23, Ilaro street, Bodija, Ibadan. They also do home deliveries. These are their phone numbers; 08099903274, 08055235477.

Sorry, what?

Hey guys, how are you all doing?
This is something I have been meaning to speak on for as long as I remember. Have you guys noticed how when you go out to a function(especially in Lagos and Abuja) you become increasingly aware that you speak with a nigeian accent because everyone else has a British, American, or some other accent that you can't quite decipher. It honestly seems like everyone has acquired a slur to their speech and every word seems to be coming out of their nose. Even on you tube, when you watch videos made by Nigerians, you begin to wonder if there is anything wrong with having a Nigerian accent because it automatically disappears and all of a sudden they are speaking "fo-ne". I mean don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with speaking good English and quite frankly I think a polished Nigerian accent is one of the sexiest in the market. But to be honest, it is quite exhausting when you have to strain your ears(and your mind) to listen to what somebody is saying even in the comfort of your motherland. I remember the other day I was speaking to my friend who had gone to Canada for uni and I was wondering how it  was that he had ditched his Nigerian accent(which he spoke with for 17 years) and had acquired another (after just 1year in canada). Well, you know what? I don't blame these people half the time, because Nigerians tend to take you more seriously when they can't hear a word you say and it gives that "I have arrived" feeling. But it would be nice if Nigerians didn't see the need to speak that way, if we were proud to speak in our own accent even abroad, because I don't see any white person trying to speak in a Nigerian accent when they come here. Everything goes to show our level of self confidence and pride and the earlier we get comfortable in the very essence of our being the better.
Do any of you share my thoughts? Have you had any of such experiences? Are we guilty of the foreign accent syndrome? Please leave a comment sharing your views. Thank you.

Drumroll Please!!!

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog.
So yeah, if you remember I mentioned something about my ophthalmology test which held on Thursday in my last post. Well, the test was good thanks for asking #lool. I am sorry for not posting anything since then. I have been very busy, but a few people got in touch with me to find out when my next blog post would be and that really made me smile.
I have been wanting to do a shoot for like the past month but something always came up. Yesterday being workers day, I took my fate into my hands and disturbed my photographer buddy Doyin. She is a 600lb student #lool! (blame it on all the ASUU strikes) so she preparing for her final medical school exams, but yesterday she had my time #yayme!!! I quickly called on my two models; Lape and Yanmike (I had informed them about a month ago so they were not taken unawares) hoping they weren't busy and when they obliged me I felt like it was indeed meant to be. I quickly made them up( well, not so quickly. Lool) and we had the shoot. I decided to bring some of the pictures on here to show you, ask you what you think, your comments and suggestions.
Yanmike's before.

After!

Up close!

Lape's after

I forgot to take a before picture of Lape (lucky her), but here is the finished look. What do you guys think?
If you guys wanna know the products I used to create these looks please leave a comment requesting that and I'll be sure to include those details in my subsequent posts.
